Katie And Joe On The Go: Weekly Update (Edition 3)

June 28, 2024

Hello Reader,

We hope all is well. This is going to be a short email update but we've got some exciting stuff to talk about! Here are 5 quick updates from the past week.

Update #1

Last week was the 102nd running the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, one of the most celebrated motorsport events in the world. This is our 4th year attending and coving the event.

While every year is unique and full of challenges, this year was extra special. Laura Hayes broke a record and became the fastest woman up the mountain. A tremendous time of 10:20:487, a full 30+ seconds faster than the previous record.

Check out a few amazing photos from the week here.

Update #2

A few weeks ago we spoke to Thrive (a podcast for Bloggers and Influencers) about our transition from the corporate life to full-time content creators.

The podcast is officially out and it's fantastic! We spoke about our learnings while building out our blog, what unexpected challenges we've hit so far, and things we wish we knew before taking the plunge of do this full-time.

Sound interesting? Listen to it here!

p.s. we are definitely not "Travel Blogging Experts" lol, far from it.

Update #3

We have a new clothing partner! Wooly Clothing Co produces Merino Wool basics like shirts, underwear, leggings, and more.

We are producing photo & video content for an upcoming campaign they are working on, so be on the lookout for us!

Update #4

We are working to get back on track with National Park videos. As you know we've had a very busy month but we are getting ourselves back into edit mode. Our last video about Yosemite National Park has almost 700 views already!

After Yosemite we drove west to Pinnacles National Park (which was one of our absolute favorite National Parks) so be on the lookout for that.

We are shooting two videos tomorrow about pros & cons of van life and our van build, if you've got any van life and/or van build questions, send us an email and we will cover them.

Update #5

We have a new goal, in 2025 we want to host our first group trip! What does that mean? It means us and 8-16 people embark on a trip, DESIGNED BY YOU!

If the majority of people want to go on a wine tasting trip through France and Italy, we are on board.

If people want to go to Peru for a photography workshop? Let's do it!

Here's where we need your to help, if you could go here (https://bit.ly/KAJOTG_Trip) and let us know what sort of trip you'd be interested in, we can work with the fine folks at Trova Trip to organize the perfect trip.

The Igreja dos Santos Passos Hey Reader,While Katie’s off cruising down Portugal’s rivers, living her best life, I’ve been holding down the fort in Porto — and honestly? I got bored. So I did what any castle nerd would do: hopped on a train and set off for Guimarães (seriously, super pretty)— a medieval gem just an hour outside the city. This town is known as the birthplace of Portugal, and it absolutely lives up to the hype. I wandered castle walls, explored a 15th-century palace, ate some...

Joey walking in the Alfama neighborhood of Lisbon, Portugal Hey Reader,We’re spending three weeks in Portugal right now—not on a press trip, not on a freebie deal—but thanks to a few collaborations we locked in before we left, almost all of our costs are covered.Flights, lodging, meals, experiences… it’s wild to say, but the money we’re making from a handful of brand deals will pretty much pay for the whole trip. It didn’t happen overnight. Before we left, we sent out about 50 brand pitches....

Taking in the view from Miradouro da Graça in Lisbon, Portugal. Hey Reader,We’ve officially left the U.S. for a few weeks of exploring Portugal—returning to a place we already adore, but this time diving even deeper. We’ve been to Lisbon before and it completely won us over—the food, the people, the energy, the views—everything just hits in the best way. Coming back feels both familiar and exciting, and we’re so glad to be diving deeper this time around. Katie and her mom (and some of her...
